Peter Dinsdale

Data Protection Analyst

Pete has held roles in data protection and information governance since 2003, working in local government, higher education and the private sector. He was responsible for developing and managing processes to ensure compliance with the UK Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection Act in all of his public sector roles, with a focus on policy development, staff training and request handling.

Most recently, he has led organizational responses to the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including acting as Data Protection Officer (DPO) for Newcastle University. In his most recent role as Data Protection Consultant for an IT company, he provided data protection consultancy services to major private sector clients.

Pete holds a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) in Psychology from the University of Durham, and a Master of Laws degree (LLM) from Northumbria University, specializing in Information Rights Law. He is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), through which he is a Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe (CIPP/E), a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).
